Carroll Training Services (RTO#45753) offers the nationally recognised RIIWHS201E – Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures unit of competency with high quality course materials and premier student support. How is the course delivered?

Training is delivered via face-to-face classroom session with pre-course learning.

Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed in up to 2 days.

Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend up to 8 hours of study depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

What will you learn?

This course is designed to develop your expertise in working in site based roles. Among others, you will learn to:

    • Access and apply site safety procedures
    • Apply personal safety measures
    • Apply operational safety measures
    • Maintain personal wellbeing
    • Identify and report incidents

 


How is the course structured?

All learners will be assessed through observation during on-the-job or role play simulation, and questioning that may include self-assessment, verbal answers, written questionnaires, activity modules or interview.

 


What are the entry requirements?

There are no prerequisites to enter the course. However, Carroll Training Services requires that students be between 17 to 75 years old.

 


What are the resources needed to complete the course?

To support you in your new course with Carroll Training Services, we will provide the following:

  • RIIWHS201E learning and assessment suite, which is made available in hard copy and through the student portal and includes:
    • Learner Guide
    • Assessment Workbook
    • Handouts
  • Additional course readings as recommended by trainers
  • Industry and reference sources, which may include:
    • legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures
    • manufacturer’s guidelines and specifications
    • Australian standards
    • code of practice
    • management plans
    • safe working procedures (or equivalent)
    • tagging and lockout procedures
    • toxic substances procedures
    • gas monitoring procedures
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include:
    • the systems overview
    • hard hats
    • hearing protection
    • eye protection
    • respiratory masks
    • other prescribed clothing and equipment related to tasks
    • self-rescuers which may include filter or self-contained types

To complete your course, you will need ongoing access to the following:

  • Computer/laptop with relevant software
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) including:
    • long sleeved shirt
    • long pants
    • steel capped or closed toe safety boots

What are the Qualification Pathways?

Students who complete this course may choose to pursue further studies in a range of qualifications, such as:

  • RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations*
  • RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction*
  • RII30520 Certificate III in Mining Exploration*
  • RII30320 Certificate III in Underground Metalliferous Mining*

*These qualifications are not offered by Carroll Training Services. 

 


Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?

RPL is not applicable to this unit. The Coal Mining Safety and Health Regulation 2001, section 84, requires that each coal mine worker at the mine, including each worker holding a senior management or supervisory position and each worker holding a certificate of competency, is given refresher training under the mine training scheme at least once in every five (5) years.
