How is the course delivered?

Training is delivered via face-to-face classroom session with pre-course learning.

Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed in up to 5 days.

Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend up to 36 hours of study depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

What will you learn?

This course is designed to develop your expertise in working in operational roles. Among others, you will learn to:

    • Plan and prepare to treat and dispose of rejects and tailings
    • Carry out treatment and disposal of rejects and tailings
    • Carry out post-operational procedures for treating and disposing of rejects and tailings

 


How is the course structured?

All learners will be assessed through observation during on-the-job or role play simulation, and questioning that may include self-assessment, verbal answers, written questionnaires, activity modules or interview.

 


What are the entry requirements?

There are no prerequisites to enter this training program. However, Carroll Training Services requires that students are:

  • aged between 17 and 75 years old
  • currently employed in a role that allows for the training and exposure of the skill (operational role in the Coal sector)

What are the Qualification Pathways?

Students who complete this course may choose to pursue further studies in a range of qualifications, such as:

  • RII30420 Certificate III in Resource Processing
  • RII20520 Certificate II in Resource Processing*

*This qualification is not offered by Carroll Training Services. 

 


Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?

RPL is not applicable to this unit. The Coal Mining Safety and Health Regulation 2017, section 84, requires that each coal mine worker at the mine, including each worker holding a senior management or supervisory position and each worker holding a certificate of competency, is given refresher training under the mine training scheme at least once in every five (5) years.
