How is the course delivered?

Training is delivered via face-to-face classroom session with pre-course learning.

Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed in up to 2 days.

Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend up to 8 hours of study depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

What will you learn?

This course is designed to develop your expertise in working in site based roles. Among others, you will learn to:

    • Plan and prepare for work outcomes
    • Apply work procedures to individual work activities

 


How is the course structured?

All learners will be assessed through observation during on-the-job or role play simulation, and questioning that may include self-assessment, verbal answers, written questionnaires, activity modules or interview.

 


What are the entry requirements?

There are no prerequisites to enter the course. However, Carroll Training Services requires that students be between 17 to 75 years old.

 


What are the resources needed to complete the course?

To support you in your new course with Carroll Training Services, we will provide the following:

  • RIIGOV201E learning and assessment suite, which is made available in hard copy and through the student portal and includes:
    • Learner Guide
    • Assessment Workbook
    • Handouts
  • Additional course readings as recommended by trainers
  • Industry and reference sources, which may include:
    • relevant legislation
    • relevant Australian standards relating to safety and health management systems
    • organisation or site policies, procedures, and work instructions
    • safety and health management systems
    • principle hazard management plans
    • standard operating procedures
    • code of practice, recognised standards, or guidelines
    • manufacturer’s instructions

To complete your course, you will need ongoing access to the following:

  • Computer/laptop with relevant software such as, but not limited to, the folllowing:
    • internet access preferably through Google Chrome
    • MS Word and PowerPoint
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader

*These qualifications are not offered by Carroll Training Services. 

 


Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?

RPL is not applicable to this unit. The Coal Mining Safety and Health Regulation 2017, section 84, requires that each coal mine worker at the mine, including each worker holding a senior management or supervisory position and each worker holding a certificate of competency, is given refresher training under the mine training scheme at least once in every five (5) years.
