How is the course delivered?

Training is delivered via face-to-face classroom session with pre-course learning.

Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed in up to 6 days.

Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend up to 39 hours of study depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

What will you learn?

This course is designed to develop your expertise in working in operational roles in Coal and Metalliferous mining. Among others, you will learn to:

    • Plan and prepare for stacker operations
    • Operate stacker
    • Carry out operator maintenance
    • Carry out housekeeping activities

 


How is the course structured?

All learners will be assessed through observation during on-the-job or role play simulation, and questioning that may include self-assessment, verbal answers, written questionnaires, activity modules or interview.

 


What are the entry requirements?

There are no prerequisites to enter this training program. However, Carroll Training Services requires that students be employed in a role that allows for the training and exposure of the skill as described in this unit of competency.

 


What are the resources needed to complete the course?

To support you in your new course with Carroll Training Services, we will provide the following:

    • Long sleeved shirt
    • Long pants
    • Steel capped or closed toe safety boots

What are the Qualification Pathways?

Students who complete this course may choose to pursue further studies in a range of qualifications, such as:

  • RII30420 Certificate III in Resource Processing
  • RII30120 Certificate II in Surface Extraction Operations*
  • MSM30318 Certificate III in Manufactured Mineral Products*
  • RII21120 Certificate II in Oil & Gas Drilling (Onshore) and Well Servicing*

*These qualifications are not offered by Carroll Training Services. 

 


Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?

RPL is not applicable to this unit. The Coal Mining Safety and Health Regulation 2017, section 84, requires that each coal mine worker at the mine, including each worker holding a senior management or supervisory position and each worker holding a certificate of competency, is given refresher training under the mine training scheme at least once in every five (5) years.
